| North Carolina
A forest rests on the border of the water that the horses use to get to the small island where they are seldom disturbed. Close by there is a road, but it is old and cracked and not many cars travel on it. When they do, though, they are normally going around fifty miles per hour. The nearest town is about thirty miles away, and humans don't like to venture into the forest because of the denseness of it.

| Sea Passage
Once a month, when the tide is low, a horse can practically walk from North Carolina to Palise. There are sand bars every ten feet. When it's not low tide, however, it's very difficult to cross. The waves sometimes are taller than a horse and will not hesitate to drag one under. It's not uncommon to see a boat zipping through. It is recommended to travel with a buddy; you never know what the perils of the sea may bring.
This is how horses that are not native to Palise get there.

| Three-way Split
When you first enter Palise there is a very wide, worn-down path that, to the human eye, stops abruptly at the start of the petrified forest. Horses, however, know better. Leading off to the west is where the neutral horses go, following the scent of others like them. To the east is where the darks go, up the giant mountain on the perilous path. Straight through the petrified forest is the path the lights take.

| Meire
Located in the valley between the mountains is the Meire. In the spring the blossoms are plentiful and in a multitude of colors instead of the standard pink. The winters here are very mild; the snow gets caught on the mountains. When it melts, though, it all runs down into the pleasant little meadow and can cause floods. A small lake is located at the north end, and a curious sort of petrified forest at the south.
Other alliances often drop by, as it is on the way between the neutral and dark realms.

| Geldem
Hidden away behind a natural rock formation is the neutral land of Geldem. From the crumbling dirt path that leads up the mountain it looks as if whatever is behind it would be small and clausterphobic, but a short trudge further reveals this to be completely wrong. Though there is only one opening that a horse can get through, the top is open and wind blows fresh air through it constantly. Geldem is basically a cavity about halfway up the West Mountain, layered in stone all around. But even though the ground of this wonderous place is rock, there is enough vegitation growing through the cracks to ensure that the Neutral Lord and his herd won't easily to hungry. They are protected from earth bound attackers in their cozy place.

Up on the very top of the East Mountain it is very flat, with a few bumps and dips scattered about. The Mett is about half a mile in diameter, and there is often fog created by low-hanging clouds, which makes it hard for the Dark Lord to keep track of his whole herd at one time. There is one path the horses use to go up the mountain and one path they use to go down. The path they use to go up winds around the whole mountain, and it takes about a day for a horse to get up it at a walk. The path they use to go down is pretty straight, but very steep. If a horse tries to go down it too fast they will go tumbling down and probably die.
Back up on the top of the Mett there is a large den-like formation that is about 10 feet deep. The horses of the Mett retreat to this whenever there is a hurricane or other dangerous weather. There are cliffs all around, some with a drop of three feet and others with a drop of three hundred feet. It's not the best place for foals to explore.

| Llanfae
Llanfae is a wide, natural arena, located at the foot of the East Mountain. Here two projecting spurs of rock curve curve round to form a valley of sorts; the steep sides, littered with scree and hardy vegetation, prevent any escape. Llanfae is cool in the summer, overshadowed by the mountain, but in the wetter months it is prone to flooding and mudslides.
Horses come here to battle.

| Liavone
The Liavone is a safe haven located just to the east of the Meire's lake. It is mostly used by very pregnant mares or horses that have just been in a fight and need to heal in peace, because no horses that mean harm to one in here are allowed here. It is a small meadow, and very pleasant in the summer and fall, as it is sheilded from most of the harsh elements. However, in the spring the lake may overflow and it can get very marshy.
Mares will come here to give birth.

| Ceredigon
South-east of Mere are the rises of Cered, commonly known as Ceredigon: this plain is higher than the surrounding land, and looks down onto the Petrified Forest and the Lights' valley. Consisting of dry, windswept grass it isn't much to look at; however, it is here that the remaining Lights withdrew to watch the end of the battle some seven years ago.
It has become a common ground in memory of that carnage, and now horses of all alliances can come here to mingle.

| Auteniul
High up on the East Mountain, above the neutral kingdom Geldem, is Auteniul. Those with weak lungs and hearts should not come up here; the air quality is very poor, as it is so high. Once you get high enough on it the snow never leaves, only gets thicker in the cold months. There is little to no vegetation; no horse can stay up at Auteniul for long. It is impossible to reach the peak of the mountain, and all those who have gotton close have died either from exhaustion, starvation, extreme coldness, or failure of the heart or lungs. It's a dangerous place.
Auteniul is not really for anything, but force breeding is allowed here. Mares, be warned.

| Peiln
The Peiln, pronounced "payln", is where the lights forced themselved to move the hundreds of corpses littering their valley. It is in the crook between the East Mountain and the ground, very near the Petrified Forest. It is a surprisingly fertile land, due to the decomposing organisms that always manage to find their way. It gets easily flooded during the spring, however.
The grass is taller than any other grass in Palise, coming up to a horse's shoulder. Unfortunately, the height also brings with it the ticks.
Horses come here to die.
